 St Piran - Man of Tin As we get ready to celebrate St Piran's day I thought I would post some research I did a few years ago.  The Legend Piran's family origins are obscure; tradition says he came from Ireland. Spent his youth in South Wales where he founded a church in Cardiff. Received religious schooling at the monastery of Saint Cadog at Llancarfon, where he would have met Saint Finnian (Born about 495; died 589). The two returned together to Ireland where Finnian founded six monasteries, including his most famous one at Clonard. Piran lived there before Saint Enda on Aran Island, and then Saint Senan on Scattery Island.   No. 23 . What was it? and The answer. I posted this on to Allpoetry.com on the 12th of Feb.2023.            What was it? - a poem by GeorgeP -  What was it? I don't know. Flew past my window, Going very slow, maybe a comet, maybe a plane, or a flying saucer with another name. What was it? Blog No. 21 The Serpent Goddess The Serpent Goddess On Sunday the 13th of February 2023 Rachel Richards posted the above photo on the Sennen Community Website along with the following text. "Yesterday, after watching the whales travel offshore and towards Lands End, then admiring the forming sunset, I saw this figure in the sky. To me it looks like a person kneeling, cradling a baby looking down at Sennen and following the whales. It stayed without shifting shape for quite a while.   Elephants Part 2. This follows on from my Blog No. 15.  This is a picture of an African Elephants' ear. It is similar in shape to the continent of Africa. Looking at this map of the world, can you find Africa by its shape? This is a picture of an Indian or Asian Elephants's ear. India is a country and is part of the continent of Asia. On the map, India is much smaller than Africa but can you find it. Alexander Fairgrieve's famous travelling menagerie - 'Wombwell's Royal Number One' - was to close in 1872. All of the animals were to be sold by auction in Edinburgh. The Asian elephant called Maharajah was purchased from the Edinburgh auction by the owners of Belle Vue Zoological Gardens. It was planned to send him by train to Manchester, but this plan was rapidly altered after he severely damaged a railway carriage.
