Blog No. 16. Swooshing your toes. I felt your movement, felt it through my feet Standing in the ocean hundreds of miles away. How long ago did you swoosh your toes, Yet today paddling on the Sennen beach The incoming tide brought it here to me Sand tickled my toes and swoosh!!!   You appeared in my head Swooshing your toes, Sending ripples out to sea, ripples of laughter Laughter spreading outwards as they rose    Little bubbles bursting  rising in the  sea And then on the surface becoming a wave A wave now part of the ocean here today   It began to make the journey with your thoughts Slowly moving with the power of the moon Helped along with a push from a dolphin nose Some times your thoughts sinking into the gloom Then pushed to the surface by a swooshing tale or fin Once again crossing the ocean thoughts wrapped within.   Then today I felt that Swooshing wave upon my feet And your laughter came deep within my soul. I knew that you would not come back to me That you had gone off sur

Blog 13. The Tanner Rush Poem.

Image
I wrote this poem for  my sister Beryl some years ago. Hope it helps bring back more memories.     TANNER RUSH Saturday mornings, the tanner rush, what a place to be Roy Rogers, Trigger and Gabby Hayes are on screen for us to see Taking back jam jars to Froggat’s shop for the money to get in A farthing for half pound, h’appney for pound, but nothing for a tin. We'd stand and sing the Odeon Club song, can you remember the words Frank Chadwick always added a few just to impress the girls. We promised that when we grew up, good citizens we’d be, Like Roy Rogers, Gabby Hayes and Zorro be champions of the free. Down with the lights and open the curtain transported into space, To Planet Mungo, where Flash and Dale defend the human race Week after week they made their stand, and we’d cheer and stamp our feet Until they defeated the Merciless Ming, and we’d pour out into the street. Memories are wonderful things and I just love to share, The places we went, the friends that we made,

A nd sometimes its power is not so strong N ow I think we'll try a second time S urely that will be easier to fulfil. No, no I've  got it here we go. What is an Ocean What is an Ocean but a large body of water? And sometimes in Storms, they give no Quarter. With waves as high as the local church Steeple. Which becomes a real danger to goods and people. What is an Ocean but a means to move goods? Two billion tonnes of oil in Tanker’s plod Too and from ports to countries they roam Maybe part of it goes to heating your home. What is an Ocean but a place to grow food, Fish for your table so many to choose Lobster and crabs make such a tempting dish Whilst Molluscs and seaweeds your lips do kiss. What is an Ocean but a place to grow more By 2050 our population to 10 Billon will soar. Food from the sea will be what we demand With a possible
